TORIC VARIETIES

When and where: Thursdays from 12:00 to 14:00 at IMUB (Facultat de Matemàtiques, UB)

Start: Thursday 7 November at 12:00

Contact: Martín Sombra (sombra_at_ub_dot_edu)

This will be a series of lectures aimed at the graduate level, where I will try to explain from scratch the theory of toric varieties. The emphasis will be in trying to understand intersection theory in the toric setting, including Cartier divisors and line bundles, Chow rings, and the Hirzebruch-Riemman-Roch formula. I will follow Fulton's book [2], plus some material taken from [1].
